About the Off-Grid Solar
- The system is sized for the worst week of the year rather than the average, which makes off-grid plants larger and costlier per unit.
- It is usually hybridised with a generator, so diesel covers the rare deficit rather than the daily load.
- Autonomy is a specification you choose. One day of storage costs a fraction of three, and most sites don't need three.
- It is worth comparing against the cost of extending the grid before assuming off-grid is the expensive option.
